North German Microelectronics Day at Fraunhofer ISIT
At the sixth North German Microelectronics Day, microtec nord 2015, around 50 experts from the North German microelectronics sector discussed current applications and trends in the field of energy-efficient electronics.
Electronic components and systems have long been used to utilise energy efficiently; however, the energy efficiency of the electronics themselves is increasingly coming to the fore. The potential for savings is considerable, as can be seen, for example, in the drastic reduction in the power consumption of IT and consumer electronics devices in standby mode. This development is driven, amongst other things, by legal requirements such as the Ecodesign Directive of the European Parliament and the Council.
Speakers from renowned companies such as Texas Instruments, Infineon Technologies and NXP gave presentations at Fraunhofer ISIT in Itzehoe on the current state of the art in electronic components and intelligent electronic systems with low energy consumption. In addition, Fraunhofer ISIT and HAW Hamburg were represented with presentations, as were the regional SMEs CRE Rösler Electronic GmbH and Reese + Thies Industrieelektronik GmbH.
The conference is organised and hosted by the Westküste University of Applied Sciences in Heide, HAW Hamburg, the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Research ISIT, the Itzehoe Innovation Centre (IZET), and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region Office. Further support is provided by NXP Semiconductors Germany GmbH from Hamburg.
The seventh microtec nord will take place in 2016 at the Westküste University of Applied Sciences in Heide.
