What do you particularly like about a career in business development at Fraunhofer ISIT?

Business Development has various tasks at ISIT. I was particularly attracted to marketing. I was excited by the variety of tasks and marketing projects. Each project is unique and is advertised accordingly. I think the communication between Fraunhofer ISIT and the public is a really exciting and important aspect that I like.

Why did you apply to Fraunhofer ISIT?

I was interested in an internship that included both media design and public relations. At Fraunhofer ISIT, the marketing department combines both. I was also curious about how the implementation of advertising strategies works in the scientific field.

What areas did you get a taste of and what tasks did you have there?

I looked into marketing and was involved in the preparation of two trade fairs that were important for the institute, Electronica and Compamed.

I also assisted in creating social media posts. I was able to take a look at different projects of the department (e.g. organizing a photo shoot as well as an event with 50 people). In doing so, I gained a good impression of the various tasks that arise in this area.

Which task did you particularly enjoy?

I particularly enjoyed the brainstorming for possible social media posts and the associated research. I also personally found the trade fair preparations very exciting and the many things that have to be taken into account.

Would you still choose this career path after graduation?

I can definitely imagine it, but I'm not sure yet. Since there are also many other career options that interest me.

What tips do you have for future interns?

Take the opportunity to gain experience, ask your supervisors, get involved and contribute your ideas. Your internship is a great way to get an insight into the working world. If it goes well, you will have a chance to evaluate for yourself if there is a difference between your expectations of a job and the actual tasks. I used my internship as an orientation and would recommend it to you as well. In the end, you may find that another career field is more appealing or you may have found your dream job.
