The lock-in infrared thermography enables a much improved signal/noise ratio up to 1000x and a far better lateral resolution down to 5 μm. The temperature resolution of this method is in the range of 10 μK. As a result, locally dissipated power “hot spots” of approx. 1 μW can be detected.
