Microtec Nord 2022

Press release /

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the 11th Microtec Nord took place at Fraunhofer ISIT in Itzehoe on September 29, 2022. The topic Intelligent Systems - Learnable Hardware and Software met with a great response, with around 100 participants discussing the application areas of artificial intelligence.

Modern technical systems are increasingly acting autonomously, taking on even more complex tasks, especially those that traditionally require human intelligence. Learning-capable hardware and software is being used profitably by companies and organizations in industry and agriculture worldwide and offers enormous potential in the future.

A major challenge is the reliable, efficient and decentralized processing of growing amounts of data from the integrated sensors, especially on mobile devices such as smartphones. The efficient computation of neural networks with the help of customized integrated circuits represents a promising solution approach.

Microtec Nord addressed this topic with practical contributions from industry and science. After the participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Holger Kapels, head of Fraunhofer ISIT, various topics from the field of adaptive hardware and software were presented and discussed in eight lectures.

The conference is organized in cooperation by the FH Westküste, Fraunhofer ISIT, HAW Hamburg, the Innovation Center Itzehoe (IZET) and RBZ Steinburg, and with the support of NXP Semiconductors Germany GmbH and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

The next Microtec Nord is expected to take place in September 2023 at the FH Westküste in Heide.
